May 29, 2020Locally owned food McFarling Foods has been awarded the contract as distributor for the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program. This program, part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), enables regional and local distributors, to purchase and deliver $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
“This is an incredibly special honor for McFarling Foods”, says Jason Acquisto, Marketing Manager at McFarling Foods. “To be recognized and entrusted with this program means everything to us. We are honored to play this role in meeting the tremendous need across Indiana.”
McFarling will be assembling and distributing tens of thousands of food boxes in the Combination Box category, in which every box contains a variety of food items (fresh fruit and vegetables, pre-cooked chicken and pork, fluid milk and dairy).
The USDA program launches this week, and McFarling is kicking it off on with deliveries to food pantries all over Central Indiana.
