McFarling Foods Launches New Drive-Thru Food Pantry

McFarling Foods is partnering with Faith, Hope and Love Community, Inc. to open a missional food pantry inside a former Starbucks drive-thru store at 82nd and Craig Street.  With additional support from Starbucks and Mister Quik, the innovative drive-thru location will deliver much needed food in an efficient and safe manner amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

To celebrate the opening of this food pantry, McFarling is utilizing its ongoing Food Drop Friday program to supply family food packs on Friday, May 1, beginning at 12:00 pm.

Each family food pack, complete with smoked pulled pork, buns, chips and drinks, will serve four persons. The food packs will be distributed free of charge, while supplies last.

Pit Stop BBQ in Brownsburg (a longtime customer of McFarling Foods) will handle the smoking and preparation of approximately 800 pounds of fresh pork, to be served at this Grand Opening event.

“Food Drop Friday is a chance for us to give back to the community we care about”, says Jason Acquisto, Marketing Manager at McFarling Foods.  “And Faith, Hope and Love Community has created this wonderful new opportunity right here in Castleton.”

The food pantry in Castleton will serve hundreds of families with healthy food and personal hygiene products. The Faith Hope and Love Community team is gearing up to launch the opening of the pantry and is accepting donations at this time. For more information, see www.fhlcommunity.org/donate.

In addition to Food Drop Friday, McFarling Foods continued to find new ways to help the community this week, including:

• Sponsorship and donation of free 200-person community dinner for the City of LaFayette, offered by Mayor’s office and coordinated by Oliverio’s Southland Restaurant, a longtime McFarling Foods customer
• Continued support and partnership with local Hispanic community through Radio Latina, including WEDJ-FM, La Pantera 810 AM and Exitos 1590 AM
• Formation of partnership with McKinney-Vento Homeless Consortium, including a several-thousand dollar initial food donation to assist homeless families in the Indianapolis area (includes participation by Indianapolis Public Schools, MSD Warren Township Schools, MSD Decatur Township Schools, and Match Box Charter School.
• Development of partnership with Hamilton County Youth Assistance Program, as well as Fuel for School, which works to eliminate hunger among students by providing nutritious meal packs and increasing access to local food for hundreds of school age youth.
