Shannon Schellenberg
Accounting Analyst

“Best advice I ever received was to be present and intentional. We’re not promised tomorrow, so live to the fullest today.”
For just over a year Shannon has been working as an Accounting Analyst at McFarling Foods and loving her new job. Shannon manages client accounts, handles payable and vendor incentive programs and supports the department in general accounting functions such as fixed asset management, prepaid amortization schedules, and period close reconciliations.
Let’s Meet Shannon:
What is the most interesting part of your job or the highlight of your day at work?
Being able to reconcile the payables and see the order in it all. The highlight of my day is working with the accounting team to bring out the best in our department.
What do you find challenging and rewarding about your work?
The most challenging part is the most rewarding as well! I love to problem solve and analyze. Once you finally figure out where things went wrong, all the numbers balance and everything’s right again. Reconciling is my favorite!
Do you have any mentors in your professional life?
My Mom is the finance manager for our church and introduced me to the field. She trained me as a bookkeeper for a friend’s roofing company 13 years ago. I’ve grown professionally ever since, and I have her to thank. Sometimes I still call with questions or to bounce ideas off her.
What was your first paying job?
I worked for an insurance agency in high school, filing, answering phones, and sorting mail.
Who inspires you?
My husband because he is such a dreamer and goal setter. I admire him for his encouraging spirit and enthusiasm. He inspires me to be my best for God’s glory.
What’s something you’re proud of?
My husband and I have a rental property business that we self-manage. While we’ve worked hard to build this business, we have a lot of fun learning about real estate and growing together.
Are you a sports fan?
I love basketball, football, volleyball, and soccer. I’m a hometown fan – Go Colts and Go Pacers!
Have you ever met anyone famous?
No, but I’ve been in a Wal-Mart commercial, so maybe that makes me sort of famous? 😊
Can you speak more than one language?
No, unless you count “teenager” as a language.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
My husband and I will be empty-nesters, and greatly involved in ministry together at our church. I will continue to use my accounting skills
How would your friends and family describe you?
I’m a positive person and try to see the good in everyone. I’m also quick-witted and love to laugh.
